How to Apply
Create an account
SPU, at this time, only accepts online applications, so you will need to have an email address and a good internet connection in order to start your application process. The university directs that you do not complete the application on a mobile device, but a computer or laptop will suffice. Students are encouraged to use the application guidelines as a resource throughout the process.
As a potential student, you will need to create an account in order to receive a student number. You will need to fill out your personal information (name, age, birthday, relationship status, etc.) and create a pin to log in to your account. If you have any issues at any time during this process, the university encourages you to reach out to applications@spu.ac.za.
Begin the application
Once you’ve accepted the terms of the application, you will be directed to begin filling out information on your academic background and upload any pertinent documents.
Ensure that you have all academic records available and saved in the correct format as you work on this portion of the application.
Funding
If additional funding is needed, there are further steps you can take to apply for funding. You will need to provide information on previous academic history in addition to uploading supporting documents.

If you would like to check your application’s status, you can select the ‘Academic Application Status’ for updated information on what stage of your application’s progress.
Requirements
In order to be considered for a spot at SPU, you must meet the minimum academic requirements set in place by the university. If you meet these requirements, that does not automatically ensure that you will be accepted. However, it does mean that you are eligible for consideration.
The minimum requirements are set by the applicant’s South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams. You may find the SPU Points Score chart here to determine if your scores are within the required range.
Students applying from locations that assess students differently than the NSC exams will have their application individually examined on a case-by-case basis.

The deadline for applications for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes 2024 is Tuesday, November 30, 2021.
Registration
Congratulations if you’ve been accepted to Sol Plaatje University! Registration for the 2021-22 school year will be held online for health and safety reasons due to the COVID-19 crisis. The deadline for online registration is March 31, 2021.

Requirements
In order to participate in incoming student registration, you will need to have available your offer letter in addition to your proof of registration. You will find your unique student number on your student offer letter, which you will also need for your online registration.
