How to Apply to DSV Learnerships

How-to-Guide

DSV, a Danish transport and logistics company, offers learnership opportunities when vacancies are advertised for young South Africans interested in transport and logistics.

This programme is an excellent opportunity for young job-seekers to learn new skills and position themselves for what could be a very profitable career. They only need to find the drive and determination to succeed.

DSV began in Denmark in 1976, when independent hauliers joined forces to create the business. The company was listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange in 1987 and has since expanded through acquisitions and growth. It provides transport and logistics services across an international network, including operations in South Africa.

Now South Africans can tap into their expertise and prepare themselves for a career in this lucrative industry with the learnership programme.

Learnerships combine theoretical and practical components. Their duration and fields depend on the current vacancy; the following are examples of fields to look for rather than a promise that each is currently open:

  • Information Technology
  • Bookkeeping
  • Freight Handling
  • Project Management
  • Logistics
  • Finance
  • Business Administration
  • Freight Forwarding
  • Engineering
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Warehousing
  •

Check the specific advert for the citizenship, school results, language, computer skills and other requirements. These depend on the learnership and should not be treated as one fixed checklist for every DSV role.

They also have to

  • place a high premium on being punctual
  • be able to work accurately alone and in a team
  • Advertisement
  • be able to grasp concepts quickly.
  • be detail-orientated
  • and have a basic understanding of the products and services offered by logistics services.

Any stipend, allowances and costs that you must cover are specified in the current advert and programme terms. Check these before accepting an offer.

Candidates interested in applying for the DSV Learnerships program must

Visit the DSV website (https://www.dsv.com/en-za/about-dsv/careers) and apply online.

Once you are on the site, make sure you set the folder to South Africa on the maps section.

This will make sure that you will see the positions within the South African region.

Check that the programme you want to follow is available and click on it.

Then follow the rest of the instructions.

Candidates may have to upload documents such as

  • a valid copy of your South African identification document.
  • A valid copy of the results of your matric examination
  • Your recently updated curriculum vitae.
